Robert Matheson spent his childhood summers in western Minnesota on his uncle’s farm. These warm days instilled, in him, a great admiration for the rural landscape with its flora and fauna. Artistic from an early age, Bob explored his talents by carving and drawing what he saw in nature. This detailed observation developed his skills as a sculptor of game fish.

His neighbor (Brian Stewart) gave Bob a plein air painting demonstration and encouraged him to try his hand. This was a life changing event and led Bob to devote the past several years to developing beautifully crafted studio and plein air paintings.
